The soil conditions were typical of London with about 4 to 5m of ballast and then London Clay for about 50m. The deepest piles were installed 42m deep and were therefore founded in London Clay. The Layout of the site was in a pit with ground level about 6m below street level.

Special Requirements
Throughout the project operations were within a reduced area, which was only possible by reducing the amount of plant on site and by managing the rig movement carefully.The full area of the site on the first visit was never released, so the sequence of work had to be accommodated.
